F.C. DOXA KARDAMENAS
This page is made for all our friends abroad and will try to keep them informed as good as possible for matters of DOXA. In Greece we have 4 National Divisions. Division 1 is also named SUPER LEAGE. It is the PREMIER LEAGE of Greece with Olympiakos, Panathinaikos etc. After the 4 national divisions there are 3 local divisions in every county-lets say yorkshire division 1, yorkshire division 2 and yorkshire division 3. DOXA is in DODEKANNHSOS(twelve islands) DIVISION 2. This season we shall try to gain promotion to DODEKANNHSOS DIVISION 1. Also there is DODEKANNHSOS cup which is nock-out games beetween all the teams in kos and the winner will play at the end of the season against the winner of the teams in Rodos.
***information about DODEKANNHSOS DIVISION 2***
in this division there are 21 teams 14 from the island Rodos, 6 from the island Kos and 1 from the island Tilos. Having so many teams from different islands makes the cost of away games very big, due to boat tickets, food & accomodation, bus rentals and more. Therefore the division has been separated to group a and group b. DOXA has been drawn in group b together with seven teams from Rodos (hermis, efklis, anagennisi, herakles, polistratos, orfeas, aspida) and the two rivals from the island of Kos NIKAGORAS (from Kefalos village) and ANTIMACHOS (from Antimachia village). the two first teams shall gain promotion to DODEKANNHSOS DIVISION 1.you can follow the table and the fictures at the page "team".
LOST IN SPACE
Sunday 11-5-08
Having their first experience in the massive football ground of ANTAGORAS STADIUM, the biggest stadium of the island Kos and one of the biggest at the Aegean sea islands, our young lads of the U-16 team did not make it to the final. It took them 50 minutes to realise the dimensions of the pitch. By then the score was already 3-0 for Antagoras youth team who were actually playing at home. The last 20 minutes the black & whites did their best to improve their performance and Konditsis gave hope with a nice goal. After that Doxa created several chances to come back to the match but as time was running out the lads did not have the cool nerve for the right finishing. Today Antagoras were the better side after all and they deserve to be at the final. It is a pity though for our lads because they had a great regular season and it was obvious once again that the new pitch must be the ultimate priority for Kardamena. Training all week at a dry & dusty pitch with smaller dimensions did not help the team, but will anybody really notice? Only two parents and chairman Dinos were there to watch. No-one from the council. No fans. After the match the referee (who lives near Kardamena) volunteered to take three of our players to Kardamena as there were only three cars for 18 kids! These 18 boys love football and even if they are on their own, even if they are treated by the Mayor as aliens who play a funny game in space, they will fight to make Doxa bigger in the future. Only three of them (Konditsis, Tsiknis and Martin Lamay) will be 17 next year and become full members of first team. So next year the team will be almost the same at members, but one year older and wiser! Be proud lads. You did your best and had a good season!
